NEWSLETTER - JANUARY 2010

13 months ago, many dedicated clients and I moved into a new studio in Cardigan Street, Carlton. Since then we said a healthy farewell to Clifton Hill and recently a sad goodbye to the studio that started it all in Market Street.

I never anticipated events to unfold the way they did and I really didn’t expect the success the business has experienced at Carlton would be possible so soon. It’s a pretty tough job to come to work each day and have such fun with refreshing clients who are dedicated to improving their bodies and taking their physical function to the next level!

This year I have focussed on boosting the strength of the studio with my personal education but also more equipment per client. The introduction of Mind Body Online has helped clients manage their week and budget and given me hours back each week to concentrate on furthering my education within Pilates and Gyrotonic.

Next year I will complete my Advanced Diploma in Pilates practice and will also continue to train future Gyrotonic teachers.

I’d like to thank both Annalisa and Liz who have been wonderful members of the studio team. Annalisa has an exciting year ahead with further studies planned adding to her Masters degree in counselling. Liz has been asked by the Australian Ballet School to increase her hours as her vision for complete injury prevention and total allied health care comes to fruition after a strong two years at the ‘School’.

You will notice some construction at the studio during February. Some extra change rooms will be built upstairs in the Pilates space to allow a better flow from class to class. From January the Pilates studio upstairs will also have a client computer ‘kiosk’ to fiddle with your bookings online. So while you wait for your class to begin you can reschedule future classes or even make a payment. This is also to assist clients in adjusting schedules to fit in with the new expiration date on block purchases.

The major news is that from March, massage therapy will be included at the studio. Cameron Miles, an accredited Myotherapist will run The Movement Refinery Myotherapy. Essentially this form of massage is the most specialised as the focus is not just on the experience of the treatment, but the diagnosis of symptoms, treatment of the cause and prescription of exercises to avoid re-injury. You will be able to claim Myotherapy under extras/ancillary provisions within your private health care.

Cameron’s treatments have provided great benefit to my neck and foot issues and over the last four years and we have referred many clients to each other, with great success with combined treatment plans.

2010 is a year of consolidation and improvement to the business. My aim is to make the studio more user-friendly and increase client support and total health care.
I trust you enjoyed the festive season and wish you all the best for the new year.

Nicholas
