NEWSLETTER - OCTOBER
It has been busy couple of months at The Movement Refinery. Thank
you to all of you who have helped me strengthen the client base.
I really enjoy teaching such a fun and energetic group of clients.
For all of you who have referred your friends and colleagues you
will each receive a credit to your account of 1 class per referral.
I greatly appreciate your referrals and look forward to meeting
more and more of your friends and colleagues soon!
Corporate:
If you would like to organise a corporate program for Pilates,
I welcome the opportunity to come and talk with your colleagues
and free them from the shackles of a desk. Or, you may prefer
that I hang your CEO from the rafters while you get to tickle
them into submission! Can you say, ‘‘Pay rise?”
Continuing Education:
It is always important for teachers to see how other teachers
communicate with clients. Over the 1st weekend of September, I
sponsored a visit of Australia’s leading GYROKINESIS®
teacher, Lisa Mathison from Universal Wave in Sydney. Lisa conducted
a fantastic GYROKINESIS®
workshop for advanced clients and teachers which, inspired and
rejuvenated our bodies. I promise to pass on plenty of new tricks
to you all very shortly.
New Equipment, new faces!
With the recent growth at Market Street I have added classes on
Monday nights. Please welcome Hayley Armstrong to The Movement
Refinery. Hawley comes to the studio with great experience as
a teacher of Pilates and dance. I have regular sessions with Hayley
and enjoy the ‘punishment’ immensely. Welcome, Hayley!

To go with all of the new clients and a new instructor, more new
‘toys’ are on the way. A ‘Trapeze table’
was delivered last week. This will complete the set of essential
Pilates equipment. Nicknamed “The Cadillac” or “
The Rack”, this piece offers an extensive full-body workout
and the “hanging series” could see you well and truly
tied up. I hope you enjoy the new toy, don’t forget to share
boys and girls!
A new studio!
As many of you know, I have been planning the expansion of my
studio to Clifton Hill. GYROTONIC®
Clifton Hill will be located on Queen’s Parade and should
start enlightening (you may say torturing) new clients as of late-October.
I am very excited by this studio as it will see GYROTONIC®
included in a multi-practitioner venture, Studio Body Logic. I
will be responsible for the in-house GYROTONIC®
studio and will be cross-referring with Pilates instructors, a
Myotherapist and an Osteopath. We will have a very healthy and
mobile bunch of clients!
This studio will be the first in Australia to have a JUMPING-STRETCHING
BOARD®. On a training venture to New York
in 2006 I found immense benefit in using this piece of fantastic
equipment. My spine and hips were truly singing so well, they
were asked to audition for Broadway! Lucky for you though, Clifton
Hill is a little easier to get to than Qantas flight 93 to New
York.
I extend invitation to all Market Street clients to come and try
GYROTONIC®
Clifton Hill when it opens, with my compliments.
GYROTONIC® Clifton Hill will be the 1st studio
in Australia to adopt a unique approach to the method. Most studios
teach exclusively 1:1 which is financially restrictive and limits
the exposure of such a beneficial health treatment. So I have
decided to include 1:2 and eventually 1:3 tuition which will be
on the same price-point as Pilates can assist more of us to enjoy
our bodies.
I am excited and pleased to announce the appointment of Annalisa
Birdsall as Senior instructor. Annalisa is Australia’s most
experienced teacher of GYROTONIC®
and GYROKINESIS®
and has taught across the USA. I welcome her international experience
in movement education. In addition to pedigree GYROTONIC®
training, Annalisa holds a Master’s degree in family counselling
and is a new mother to the delightful Danica!

There is a lot to get excited about, new faces, new toys and a new studio! Thank you again for your continued patronage, see you at The Movement
Refinery.
Breathe and Spiral!
