Quotes:
“Imagine
your
body
is
your
car
and
Pilates
is
a
tune-up.
Without
Pilates,
your
body
gets
rust
on
the
chassis,
the
tyres
aren’t
aligned,
your
oil
is
low,
the
engine
gets
too
hot…
You
get
the
picture!
Pilates
keeps
the
body
running
like
a
well-maintained
car.”

explains
Pilates
-
Pilates
has
been
a
“buzzword”
in
Australia
now
for
a
few
years.
However,
the
first
studio
was
started
in
New
York
City
in
the
late
1920's
by
Josef
Pilates.
We
have
come
a
long
way
but
who
really
knows
what
Pilates
is
or
what
the
movements
are?
And,
why
is
Pilates
better
than
other
exercise
methods?
Many
people
will
explain
Pilates
a
different
way,
here
is
my
interpretation.
Pilates,
in
the
initial
stages
is
a
corrective
exercise
method.
In
this
way,
you
will
iron
out
the
faults
in
your
musculo-skeletal
and
movement
system
and
find
the
most
efficient
and
strongest
way
of
moving.
For
example,
why
use
the
muscles
around
your
throat
and
neck
to
lift
your
arm?
Pilates-based
exercise
will
decrease
your
chance
of
(re)injury,
reduce
your
experience
with
back,
neck
and
joint
pain
and
overall
give
you
a
stronger
sense
of
good
health.
Pain
is
a
response
to
a
blockage
or
fault.
When
a
joint
is
incorrectly
stabilised
by
a
movement
muscle
instead
of
a
stabilising
muscle,
the
workload
increases.
This
has
two
negative
effects.
One,
the
muscle
doesn't
get
to
rest,
so
it
becomes
overworked
and
fatigues
easily
leading
to
tightness.
Secondly
the
stability
muscles
lie
unused
and
weaken.
With
Pilates,
you
learn
how
to
correctly
stabilise
your
spine,
joints,
shoulder
girdle
and
pelvis
and
then
let
the
movement
muscles
do
their
'thing',
leading
to
a
strong,
toned
and
healthy
body.
Once
you
are
more
experienced
with
this
concept
and
your
body
has
strengthened
to
operate
clearly,
advance
through
the
method
with
greater
physical
challenge
and
enjoy
the
results
of
advanced
strength
training
but
with
solid
and
educated
foundations.
This
means
that
instead
of
being
drilled
with
a
no-pain,
no
gain
mentality,
you
are
working
out
the
smartest
way
to
build
strength
and
dexterity
of
your
movement.
But
all
this
really
is,
is
words
on
a
page.
Come
in
to
the
studio
and
make
an
appointment
to
have
a
chat
with
Nicholas
so
he
can
demonstrate
how
the
equipment
and
your
body
can
work.
This
is
totally
no-obligation
and
complimentary
of
course.
